Brainstorm

Brainstorming ideas helps me to define what I'm wanting to portray of show with my design. A few key words I came up with to use as possible elements for my design are:

  • Reflections
  • Privacy/publicity
  • Water
  • Closed/exposure
By brainstorming allowed me to be able to breakdown and pull apart my clients ritual. My client said she washes her face to cleanse from the day and take off her makeup. She then continued to say that she moisturises after to prepare for the nest day, to put makeup on. I broke this down to understanding my client wears makeup during the day to go out. Wearing makeup can be connected to the fact that you don't feel comfortable in your own skin. By my client washing her face she's preparing for a new face. This is where I found the words privacy/publicity to be appropriate. Washing and cleansing her face can be a private act where as she is preparing for a face for publicity. My client also stated that she carries out this act in the bathroom. I figured that bathrooms usually contain mirrors. I thought incorporating mirrors into my design could look effective. I also had the idea that the first reflection into the mirror is a clean face, the second will be a different makeup face, the opposite in the evening when she washes her face. Different faces could be portrayed in the reflections, reality vs who you want to be. I also thought water could be a cool element to work with within this design as in order to wash your face water has to be included.
